FAQs
The Myomunchee is based on age and size.
5-6 months of age - 18-24 months of age Bebe Munchee.
18 months of age - 4 years of age Mini Munchee.
When a child is over 4 we will want to look at the intercanine measurement. This can be achieved by biting down on a tissue and measuring although we suggest you can find a Chiropractor, myofunctional therapists, SLP or dentist who works with oral function to assist in the measurement.
Great question! If your infant is under 6 months of age and you are looking for a pacifier/dummy to assist in soothing baby and even strengthening their suck without any risk of creating change to their palate, tongue function and breastfeeding then the Ninni Pacifier is what you are looking for. This is the only pacifier/dummy that truly mimics the breast and is ideal for bottle, breastfeed, premies and even NG/G Tube babies (once medically cleared for a pacifier).
If your infant is greater than 6 months of age we would recommend you look at the Bebe Myomunchee. This oralmotor, class 1 Medical Device is perfectly designed to assist in the next stages of neurodevelopment for your little one. This device shifts us from the suck reflex and into the neurodevelopmental stage of chewing, improves our jaw alignment, increases our healthy alkaline saliva, helps encourage proper elevated tongue position, stimulates the gums and even helps clean any teeth and stimulates the vagus nerve helping us shift into that "rest and digest" mode.
The Ninni Pacifier is soft and flexible to mimic the breast. This is what makes it perfect for helping your baby with suckling, sucking and decreases any challenges that can arise from the traditional pacifier/dummy. This also creates a slight learning curve when we are introducing it to our little ones.
Introduction of the Ninni:
1. Stroke the lips of baby with the tip of the pacifier as you would the breast or bottle to encourage them to open their mouth.
2. Once their mouth is open place the pacifier into their mouth and hold the coloured outer ring while their mouth and tongue navigate it.
3. You may see some tongue thrusting (nipple portion moving in and out) while they figure it out and simply gently hold it in their mouth or follow their lead and continue retrying to get them to take the pacifier into their mouth.
Additional tip: place your baby finger into the nipple portion to help them begin to suck. Once the sucking has been established slip it out and allow them to continue to suck the pacifier.
4. You want to ensure the lips are flanged as you would for a breast or bottle. You should see a white line at the top gum line when they are properly using the Ninni Pacifier (this means the lip is out of the way). If needed gently pull up by the corner of their nose on each side to help the lip flange.
5. You should see the mouth open wide and the tongue doing a beautiful mermaid action while they are sucking.
Please note: These instructions are simply suggestions. If your child is having challenges with breast and/or bottle feeding, is gagging often when introducing breast, bottle or pacifiers or seems unsettled please seek help from an IBCLC, LC, feeding specialist, pediatric chiropractor, infant PT, infant OT or other bodyworkers who are trained in intraoral assessment and infant neurodevelopment.
We have created these pediatric boards to be the ideal size and movement to suit from 5-6 months of age until between 12-15 years of age. It can be beneficial into adulthood depending on the size of the individual and it's use.
Infant and Toddlers I always recommend we begin with the pediatric wobble. This complete movement helps stimulate their vestibular system and assists in the level of neurodevelopment.
School Aged: What are you wanting to use the Wobble or Rocker Board for?
My child is on the spectrum and tends to rock forward and back or side to side.
If this sounds like your child adding in the pediatric wobble board to sit on helps increase the input to their nervous system and allows them focus, feel more calm and assists with retained primitive reflexes.
If you or your child find you need to doodle, have fidget toys or just have challenges sitting still to focus or learn a rocker board is what you may want to add. Place the rocker board under your feet to act like a dynamic foot rest. Pumping our feet forward and back helps increase the proprioceptive input from our ankles to our brain, allows us to focus and frees our hands up to take notes. You can also turn it so your are rocking side to side to alter the input and assist with that brain body connection.
Note: If you are using this post concussion only begin with forward and back movement as the increased movement side to side could exacerbate your symptoms until you are ready for it in your rehabilitation.
Rocker boards are ideal to use as a foot rest. Not only does it place you in a proper ergonomic set up but the movement helps improve proprioception and decreases the negative impact of sitting.
